Latest Ignition Fund Winners Announced

The recipients of Fall 2015 Ignition Fund awards have just been announced. Five outstanding Oberlin student projects were selected to receive financial support: Salt and Honey is a clothing line for the socially conscious, offering beautiful, one-of-a-kind apparel that seeks not only to empower, but also to educate by sharing information about privilege, racism, homophobia, and classism. Oberlin Makers is a podcast that provides a platform to promote local makers; informs listeners about interesting community projects; and creates a collaborative space for college and community members to come together. Auntie Na’s House is a Detroit organization that serves as a food pantry, free after-school program, clothing distribution hub, community garden, community meals space, water hub, and temporary shelter. Oberlin students are currently expanding the community garden, tutoring, and shelter programs into adjacent lots. Sea Change is an interactive multimedia piece about the global trade web and ecosystem that co-exist in the Strait of Malacca. Land is a mobile app that optimizes the user’s cellular telephone settings for international travel in one click. Elyzabeth Holford Named Director of Entrepreneurship

Elyzabeth Holford has been named Oberlin’s Director of Entrepreneurship and began work October 20, 2015. As director, Holford will provide leadership and vision for the development of all entrepreneurship activities including LaunchU—which seeks to support and fund new student and alumni entrepreneurs—and the Creativity & Leadership program.
