Leo Harrington

Leo Harrington, of San Francisco, California, is a senior double-degree student in History and Trumpet Performance. He has performed as principal trumpet with the Oberlin Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Sinfonietta, at the Marrowstone Music Festival, and with dozens of other ensembles and chamber groups on campus and in San Francisco. Active as an educator, Leo has taught private trumpet lessons, led elementary group Orff-Schulwerk music classes, coached youth orchestra sectionals, and conducted brass ensembles. With support from an Oberlin Career Center grant, he organized a music education project during the summer of 2015 with the National Concert Association of Panama. He has also worked extensively as a writing tutor on campus through the Writing Associate program, at Oberlin High School through the Ninde Scholars Program, and in San Francisco as an 826 Valencia intern. As a musicologist, he has published on an opera by Ernst Krenek in the journal Nota Bene and curated a musical instrument exhibit from Oberlin’s Selch Collection for a conference of the Historic Brass Society.
