Francesca “Chesa” Lichauco graduated from Oberlin College in 2004 with a double major in East Asian Studies and Theater and a minor in linguistic anthropology. After receiving her B.A. she worked as an Oberlin Shansi Post-Graduate Teaching Fellow in Kunming, China for 2 years and as a Returned Fellow in Oberlin, Ohio for 1 year. Chesa obtained her Masters degree in Public Administration at the Monterey Institute of International Studies and a certification in International Development work in 2009. She joined the U.S. diplomatic corps in 2010 and has worked as a Foreign Service Officer in Washington, Hong Kong, Pakistan, and currently serves as a Special Assistant to the Ambassador in Mexico City. Chesa specializes in public diplomacy and has a particular passion for culinary diplomacy. In her spare time she creates cocktails, cooks, brews beer with her spouse, Juan Bolaños, and loves learning about markets, agriculture, and food production at the local level.
