Entrepreneurship At Oberlin
Since its founding in 1833 on the principles of Learning and Labor, Oberlin College has created a one-of-a-kind educational experience to incubate and accelerate trailblazing Oberlineurs. For over 180 years, our unique community of alumni, students and faculty has encompassed pioneers and innovators in every corner of the world and across every field of endeavor – education, science, medicine/healthcare, technology, music and arts, media and entertainment, law and social justice, religion, business, energy, food and agriculture, environmentalism, government, philanthropy, and many more. LaunchU extends this legacy of Oberlineurship and transforms it into action for the 21st century.
Creativity and Leadership
The past five years at Oberlin have seen over $350,000 in grants and awards distributed to Oberlin student ventures through the Creativity & Leadership Program, a multi-disciplinary effort designed to encourage students to put their innovative ideas into practice.
The program reflects Oberlin’s musical and artistic excellence, academic rigor, and longstanding commitment to preparing students for leadership and civic engagement, with funded projects ranging from silkscreening studios to language learning applications, cooperative food markets to technology companies, health care,and changing the world through music.
