Chase Kuesel ’16
Chase Kuesel is drummer, percussionist, and composer from Cos Cob, Connecticut. After taking an interest in music at an early age, he went on to study with Michael Bram and Joe Corsello. In high school, he was the drummer for the 2012 Connecticut All-State jazz ensemble. He is currently a junior at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he is pursuing degrees in Jazz Studies and English and studying with Billy Hart and Jamey Haddad. At Oberlin, he teaches colleges and community members through the conservatory’s secondary lesson program, and performs with various combos, one of which won a 2013 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award for Outstanding Performance. He has been fortunate to share the stage with Dick Oatts, Ralph LaLama, Abraham Laboriel, Simon Shaheen, Jamey Haddad, Steve Davis, and Daniel Blake.
